Veneers For Teeth

To replace damaged teeth or protect a damaged tooth surface, one uses veneers. Two types of materials are used to fabricate the veneer, one is the porcelain and the other is composite. Veneers that belong to composite type can be placed directly to the mouth or bonded to the tooth using resin cement by the dentist. But when it comes to porcelain veneer it can only be indirectly fabricated with the help of the dentist and later bonded.

Today more and more people are using the veneers for changing or shaping their appearance. A typical veneer fitted will last 10-30 years. However they are expensive like the porcelain veneer that will come around $1000 each. Porcelian veneer is more durable than other types of veneers.

Most of those veneer process does not require the need of any anesthetic at the time of fixing them. Among those two types of veneers, the composite type is the best since they can be repaired easily but the porcelain veneers once fractured needs to be replaced immediately with news ones that burns the pockets since they are very expensive.

Veneer requirement also depends on the cases. Some veneers require drilling whereas some do not. A more pleasing alignment of teeth can be achieved by using veneers and it improves the appearance too. The dentist who fixes the veneers needs to be careful since veneers are thick and so the same can increase the thickness of the front teeth row. Veneers should be thin and so designed that the patient can easily chew though the food without extra force.
The veneers have become an important tool for the dentist who uses them to replace those fractured, multiple teeth or discolored teeth. Veneer are also used to close the gaps that have been caused do to multiple teeth. Veneers make the teeth appear straight, uniform shape and symmetry.

Veneer resembles thin wafers that are made of porcelain. They are also called dental veneers or the porcelain laminates. One can also find resin veneers in the market that are thinner and it required less filing of the tooth surface where it will be fixed unlike those porcelain ones that will need more filing on the tooth surface. Take a consultation from the dentist before planning to have veneers. The dentist will see or examine the teeth to decide which type of veneer is appropriate for you. The dentist may take X-rays to get an impression of the mouth and teeth.
