Home based dental whitening treatment works fine but lets to damage of the tooth enamel or create teeth sensitivity. Better consult a doctor before using those bleaching gels. The gels usually have a peroxide solution or the bleaching solution. The higher its concentration, the faster it works on oxidizing the stains. But in few cases it is seen that higher concentration will cause teeth sensitivity. Dentist suggests the right concentration that has to be used on the teeth after examining the condition of the teeth.
The Dental whitening process done by the dentist involves 2 processes, one is in-office treatment and the other is at home treatment. If one follows the in-office treatment then the process begins by the dentist examining the condition of the teeth. Then the bleaching work begins by applying it on the teeth. Before applying the same, the dentist will fix a protective material over the lips and gums for preventing the gel to get in contact with them. The bleaching solution is then activated by using laser light that will accelerate the process. This will take around 1 hour time and it has given positive results mostly in removing the discoloration of the teeth.
The Dental whitening process can also be done at home. The dentist will provide the bleaching solutions and the trays. Here the tray is custom made that will fit tightly to the teeth. The dentist prepares the trays after taking the impressions of the patient’s teeth. The bleaching solution has to be put on the trays before applying tightly to the teeth when at home. As there will no laser light to accelerate the process, this natural way will take some time may be 2 to 3 weeks depending upon the amount of stains that are preset.
